Healthy aging looks different for everyone—and that’s the beauty of it. For some, it means focusing on diet, exercise, and good sleep to feel their best. For others, it may include preventative treatments like Botox or minimally invasive procedures to maintain a refreshed, natural appearance over time.
No matter your approach, one thing remains essential: staying on top of your health appointments! Regular checkups not only help catch concerns early but also ensure that your body is in its best shape to support both everyday wellness and any elective procedures you may choose. Whether it’s monitoring skin health, managing blood pressure, or simply keeping routine screenings up to date.
Healthy aging isn’t about chasing perfection, it’s about embracing each stage of life with confidence, spirit, and the peace of mind that comes from taking care of yourself inside and out.
Here are Dr. Saba’s tips for healthy aging:
1- Get at least 7 hours of sleep. Sleep lowers blood pressure, strengthens the immune system, allows the body to rest and repair tissue, all working to reduce the risk of illness.
2- Manage your stress levels. Unchecked stress can negatively impacts your mental and physical health.
3- Apply sunscreen regularly. A minimum of SPF 30 if you plan on being in the sun for more than half an hour. (Remember; the fairer your skin, the less sun exposure you require for healthy Vitamin D levels).
4- Avoid smoking and all other nicotine products. Nicotine causes restriction of your blood vessels which reduces oxygen and nutrient supply to the skin.
5- Drink plenty of water and avoid sweet, carbonated beverages. Regular soda consumption can lead to chronic diseases.
